Ethics and Sustainability
Our ethical policy is at the heart of everything we do, and is what our business is all about. Since introducing our ethical policy back in 1992, we’ve reviewed and revised it five times the most recent review being this year.
Through our reviews we’ve extended the policy to include ground breaking campaigns on land mine awareness, animal testing and human rights issues to name a few. These policies not only drive how we do business but have also changed public policy.
Through out this blog you will hear stories of our ethics in action and also the work we’re doing around our own sustainability and how we’re helping others with theirs. We have made a massive contribution to climate change in terms of our operations, products and services and influencing activities. In 2005, virtually all (98%) of the electricity supplying our group was sourced from “good quality renewable sources – exclusively wind, hydro and biomass technologies.”
We are still the only bank with a customer led ethical policy.
