Hi I have a smile account which covers me for holiday insurance, last year my husband and I were on a cruise for our 40 wedding aniversary. The second day into the cruise my husband had a heart attack. He was transferred from the ship to a private hospital were he was in intensive care for one week then two weeks getting him fit to fly home. I was put into a 4* hotel and a taxi took me to the hospital twice a day.
While I was there there was a large earthquake and all my hotel balconies fell, I was immediately transferred to another hotel.
When my husband was fit to come home a british doctor was sent out to us three days before he travelled to assess he was fit enough to fly. We flew home first class with Doctor with us at all times. During my three weeks stay the insurance called me every day to check on me and my husband they also arrange for a flight home for my daughter who had flown out the first week of my husbands illness.
I cannot praise the insurance and co-op/smile as we estimate the above treatment would have cost a minimum of 40,000.00 without change.
Well done and thank you
Maureen

Hi Maureen, Kedren at CFS here. Thank you for telling us your story. Sorry to hear that you had such a traumatic time during your trip away to celebrate your 40th wedding anniversary.
It’s fantastic to hear that our insurance gave you and your husband all the help you needed to get you both back safe and sound.
I’m going to pass on your story to our smile and insurance teams and tell all my colleagues here at CFS in Manchester.
